THANNER Pedorthics footwear solutions have been available in Australia since 2004, when Pierre Marion became the exclusive provider and distributor of THANNER Orthopaedic shoes for the local market.
We are doing all the finishing touches in Australia to ensure the absolute perfect fit is achieved for our medical range as well as for the semi-orthopaedic range. Now trading under the name THANNER Australia, we are expanding our product offer as well as scaling up our operations throughout Australia.
About our partner – THANNER GMBH
Founded in Germany in 1927, THANNER took shape when August THANNER moved to Höchstädt (in Bavaria) to manage a shoe shop. From the beginning, the company started to produce custom made footwear, as well as crafting double hand-stitched mountain and skiing footwear. Since then, THANNER GMBH has developed its unique knowhow in medical grade footwear solutions and is one of the leading manufacturer in Europe.

For the past 20 years, we have been closely involved in the production of footwear for diabetics and rheumatics. These have been developed in-house in close collaboration with specialist doctors.
Our heritage and years of learning in the medical footwear business have given us the unique skills to engineer an impressive range of footwear for everyday situations.

GM and Director THANNER Australia
Pierre has been an ambassador of THANNER in Australia. Throughout the last 16 years, he has provided an end-to-end service to ensure patients received the best possible custom-made footwear Orthotics, braces, etc. for their medical conditions.
Pierre has built a core network of Surgeons, Podiatrists, Physiotherapists, whilst working closely with high-risk diabetic foot clinics and Hospitals. Approved by DVA, NDIS, ENABLE NSW, Workers Comp, THANNER custom-made footwear have helped and transformed the lives of many Diabetics, Arthritis, and Disabled patients.
Pierre is a qualified Pedorthist.
Jerome Moreau
Director Sales, Marketing & Business Development THANNER Australia
Jerome Moreau brings 28 years of commercial (Sales & Marketing & Business development) in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry in Australia and abroad. He has a successful track record in bringing healthcare products to market. During the last 8 years, Jerome has acquired significant expertise in health economics as well as working with regulators within the healthcare system. This experience will be critical to integrate the custom-made medical changing regulations for our orthopaedic footwear business. Jerome’s experience in marketing operations will facilitate the positioning of different product line into the Australia market.
His personal passion for better health combine with his love for quality shoes will help THANNER Australia set course for an even brighter future.

THANNER Australia operates out of Auburn Podiatry, NTH Degree Care, One Point Health Ryde, One Point Health Penrith, and Performance Podiatry Bateau Bay. To find out when our clinics offer fittings, please contact us.
Can I claim the cost of my shoes with health insurance?
Most health insurances cover some of the cost of prescribed shoes. Depending on your health fund and coverage, you may be required to pay a small amount.
How do I get a referral?
You can ask your doctor or specialist to refer to you THANNER Australia. A THANNER Australia referral form is available for download on our Referrals page. This form is helpful as it gives us a broader picture of your medical history.
What shoes am I entitled to?
You are entitled to an initial fitout for one pair of walking shoes, one pair to change into, and one pair of slippers.
What is the average wear period of your shoes?
The average wear period of THANNER’s walking shoes is two years. The average wear period of THANNER’s slippers is four years.
How long has Thanner operated in Australia?
THANNER products have been available in Australia since 2004. We have continued to grow our business nationally since then, and from 2022, we operate as THANNER Australia Pty Ltd.
